Does the AquaDart snag more than a conventional weight?

No, the pivoting action of the AquaDart can help it to trip over snags, reducing tackle losses. To minimise losses on very snaggy seabeds such as reefs and wrecks, it is advisable to use a breakaway link. This allows the sinker to detach from the main loop connector while still being attached by the rear loop connector. However, this system doesn’t work if the hook length is snagged and it should be recognised that tackle losses are an inevitable aspect of fishing.

Does the AquaDart tangle more when long traces are attached directly to the weight?

Accepted Answer

The second loop connector on the AquaDart allows the attachment rigs and traces directly to the weight. Long flowing traces can tangle with the main line on the descent if not lowered in a controlled fashion. For strong drifts, or when trolling, the rate of controlled descent can be faster as a flowing trace will be swept away from the mainline. An alternative technique if to flick the weight with a small cast to impart a divergent angle between the trance and mainline on the descent.

Do fish show any interest in AquaDart? Do they bump into the weight?

Accepted Answer

Yes, underwater video footage shows fish taking a strong interest in the AquaDart and even attacking it. Unlike a conventional torpedo/bomb shaped weight, AquaDart has a horizontal, fishlike presentation, and exhibits a “swimming” motion which may be the reason.
